Mao Zedong's Whip
This is a picture of my car before it was imported into Canada
Some pictures of when I first got it.
RB20 decides to call it quits after a few weeks of owning the car
Bought a RB25DET from JDMsource in Calgary AB
Work begins!
Removed the whole front end to avoid breaking shit during engine removal.
Success! This was the first time I had taken an engine out of a vehicle.
Transmission could use a good cleaning.
After a few hours at the car wash
After another couple of hours of cleaning. Things get difficult when you don't have accessible running water.
Resurfaced flywheel
Suede NRG deep dish steering wheel to replace the old Momo. I really didn't like the Momo.
HKS timing belt
ACT 6 puck unsprung clutch.
More to come! Gotta take more pictures.
Here is the coming of more!
Bought some camber plates and motor mounts from a guy in Ontario because the threads on my camber plates got stripped and my motor mounts had cracks all through the bushings. I had to modify the camber plates in order to make them fit (they were for different coilovers) and I had to go with RB20 mounts because of how they needed to sit in my car.
The RB25 has been installed with minimal road blocks. I had a buddy figure my wiring out for me and he did a great job. Thanks Ryan! Only had a few issues with getting the RB25 to start up, but once it started it ran great! Oh and I also painted my strut bar because it was in rough condition.
Decided to do a 5 lug conversion. Bought 5 lug hubs off of ebay and drilled out my brake rotors.
Got some new wheels Me rikey.
We were unsure of the actual brand of the wheels because of the lack of markings but the centre caps that came with the rims had a unicorn on them so we just called them the Unicorn wheels. Pretty clever huh?
18x9 (forget the offset)
18x10 +9 offset
Now to find the right fitment.
Some fitment progress. Getting there.
Instead of trying to make a good attempt at a driveable fitment before the first test drive we opted to simply max out my coilovers and go for a spin. I guess it wasn't the best idea because I got stuck trying to exit my ally... my wheels in the back had compressed so much that the rim was squished against my quarter panel and was preventing me from moving. Obviously some adjustments needed to be made. We went for a little drive after I got un-stuck and a pile of tire began piling up on my quarter panels. Definitely can't be driven like that for long.
After some adjustments and a slight rolling of the quarters, we got the car sitting nicely.
Aquired some fender damage thanks to my neighbor.
Parking at school was...awesome.
Whoops
zip ties <3
Giving the car a bubble bath.
At a Darn Gangsters meet during street wheelers. Photos courtesy of Ryan Drader.
That's pretty much where I'm at right now. Still working out a few kinks with the car. I'm waiting on a new SS power steering line and I have my RUCA to install. Will update soon
