Green Booger Build
started like this
NEW CHASSIS TIME!
so me and my cousin lost our heated car shop. so i had to make the garage at my house bearable in this stupid cold weather.
for now i got some poly and did the entire ceiling and picked up this handy little propane heater. it stays around 8-10 Celsius inside. not bad for no insulation. yet.
so on the way home bringing the new car back it snowed like 3 inches and made a mess of the car.
so i decided before working on it i wanted to clean it up so i dont turn black leaning over it
(the thing on the rear bumper is a come-along. we had to use it to get it into the garage)
so the n1 hood lip had TONS of glue and **** underneath. took it off and cleaned most of it off. im gonna keep it off. i think they look dumb.
i also took alot of pics of the parts for sale. look for my thread if you need some gtr body parts or suspension parts.
winter plans:
fix body and repaint with green. was gonna do red but im liking the green. lemme know what your guys opinions are.
take out rear end and replace with z32 one. all a/m bushings and arms.
paint EVERYTHING! i dont want rust or pealing or scratched paint anywhere.
install my other wheels, coolio parts and motor.
install my origin rear bumper. buy origin sideskirts.

Re: Green Booger Build
finally got home before 7. pic of it in "sunlight"
old and new gtr side by side
definitely digging the gtr bumper instead of the kit. opinions on corner markers? smoked or orange on new car?
fuck yes.
update.
dash out
dash out
well this isnt gonna work. gotta use the old one
much better
shit is starting to pile up.
recaros waiting for their new home
now i needed to swap hand brakes as the new one isnt as cool as my old one.
as you can see the cable is pressed onto the handle
time to drill the mofo out
swapped and bolted on instaed of pressed
now i realize all the previous stuff is boring
went and got some paint and did the engine bay.
also tried some silver on the calipers. better then ricer red.

Re: Green Booger Build
update.
received some shiny things. thanks bings. still waiting on subframe bushings.
so family is all gone now and i can finally start working again at this thing. i started off by pulling everything off my black car that i wanted.
kept fuca's coilovers and brake disc's and caliper's.
started with front right suspension.
installed new spacers 20mm's
coils bolted and i popped some vacuum caps on the bolts. looks cleeeeaaann.
wheel on. now wait a sec that caliper looks fuckin close to the wheel...
holy shit it is close. couldnt even get a credit card in there.
same thing happened with the left side.
now could finally drop it on the ground. looks high. needs motor!!!
now to change the silly rubber steering bushing. somewhat a walkthrough. i recommend this upgrade for anyone.
removed all this crap
got the bottom part off.
now in order to get it on i had to pound these studs/bolts out.
bolted on the the shaft and sliding in the bolts that i hammered out earlier.
tightened down and good to go. this sums up my long weekend.

Re: Green Booger Build
update. starting of rear subframe build
got my subframe bushings. thanks bings!!
also got my poly urethane complete bushing kit.
so i started off by pulling the hicas balljoints while on the car. figured it may be easier.
started like this
now about a year ago or so i made my own custom puller for pulling off the tie rod and for pressing the balljoints out
works like so for the tie rods. just use a rachet to tighten the big bolt. sooo easy.
this one was ffffin tight. it shot off and smoked me in the knee. landed where pictured.
one reason the balljoints suck. boots rip really easy. such a fragile system.
works like this for the balljoints. same thing tighten the big bolt with a rachet.
not exactly centered but works fine. you can see in this pic how it sits on the hub better
progress
even more progress
out. this puller is amazing. def one of the best things ive ever made.
now i skipped all the bs of removing the subframe. i was irritated with it lol.
subframe down
pulled to the front of the garage. wow its dirty. 1/2" caked on crap.
bye attesa. i dont like you nor need you
then i got to filling the hicas ball joint hole with my new poly bushings. couldnt resist. :p
everything is supposed to be lubed with this crap. its some nasty stuff. i decided to wear gloves. so it didnt get everywhere.
lube lube lube
poly in. time to push in the metal sleeve.
big c-clamp does the job perfectly.
done. i like it :p
many more updates to come. the subframe is gonna be legendary.

Re: Green Booger Build
so this update goes from a week or so ago til tonight.
last week i pulled the motor
man there is so many extras on this motor.
my black car getting more naked by the day
also received my ruca's. seller was a douche but i got them and they are great quality. project silvia for whoever wants to know.
next i took apart the subframe. wow the diff has some caked on ****. look at the floor
next i started doing the rest of my bushings. 3 on each hub. still got the lca to do.
this is what came out. all i did was drill a hole on the side then used a tiny metal saw to cut a slit in it.
final product of one arm.
now time to remove the abs sensors. i deleted it longggg ago.
heres what they look like
yeah...... its a mess.
and what i did tonight. painted and installed aluminum bushings in the subframe. it looks like **** by the diff mount because i never painted there. im gonna use something a little more durable there.
another view of it.
also made these. they were a key ingredient to my conversion. thanks to derek for the epic welding and fab skills. i helped. so i can say i "made" them.
can anyone guess what they are?

Re: Green Booger Build
hicas delete brackets all bolted up.
bolted up a toe arm for the hell of it. im relly happy how these turned out. cant beat custom fit.
now i started removing the lca's bushings. torch works great. heat up the center metal and they slide out no problem
2 of em down.
what they look like with the centers gone
ready to go in. just need to figure out how to get the sleeves out of the old ones. just got new hack saw blades. gonna try that. im very open to any ideas tho.

and got myself some goodies. bluetooth deck, greddy timing belt and my fittings for new oil drain
now rear end work. FINALLY got the old sleeves out of the lca's and got the others in.
now finally joined the hubs to the subframe. bunch o pics. enjoy.

Re: Green Booger Build
well i received the rest of my my oil drain parts.
made sure the thread fit my 45 degree 10an fitting.
now you guys didnt think i would go through all the work of doing urethane bushings and forget about the sway bar did you?
got these for free from a buddy parting a corolla. they dont look pretty but they are mint besides some dirt.
reason why i actually NEEDED them.
sway bar sides on
mounted the sway bar and bushings are bolted in
also put the diff in. ill pressure wash it after its in the car.
started stripping the old gtr even more.
when taking the carpet out i got rich!! 101 yen!! (sarcasm) what is that 25 cents? haha
even more.
had to clean the garage up. i couldnt even walk around.
got my windows taken out this morning. wanted to save em. ya right. made a HUGE mistake by going with crystal glass. he broke 2 of the windows. the back and the passenger quarter glass. ONLY because he was careless. im sooo ffff'in pissed. still need to see his manager to get my money back at least. anyone in lethbridge NEVER use them.
the carnage.
at least he saved my new mint windshield.
this made my day better. guess what showed up in the mail!!!
350mm nardi deep corn suede. its so beautiful
did get some interior together last week aswell.

Re: Green Booger Build
Finally an "update" reason for quotation is that it isnt much.
tonight is the first time ive worked on this car in quite a while. also ordered a bunch of parts for it for a healthy update next week.ish.
been working on this thing lately.
had to do accord headlights and a different front bumper for the upcoming oop.
this will be my all year daily. its awd. should be decent in the snow.
now i got a couple things a week or 2 ago.
first i got a suede e brake boot. looks and feels awesome. (suede shift boot i got last year)
also got a teal bubble shift knob. (had to hold it. trans obviously isnt there)
got a couple stickers. couldnt resist putting em on.
now i started to actually work tonight.
took off the front cover and painted the cam gear flat black.
also took these off and painted em flat black aswell
now to start taking everything off to get at the timing belt. good ol impact
now you dont take the bolt all the way out as you need to use it to pull the front pulley off.
had this puller from doing a diff in a gm. all i have to do is drill 2 holes the width of the bolt holes on the pulley.
just like so.
off. nbd.
everything off and new belt placed on.
how to properly install and align a timing belt.
put the engine at tdc BEFORE taking old one off.
once off slip the new one on and make sure everything is aligned as shown below:
tensioned and now can start putting it back together.
bottom cover and pulley on
done. (reason why top cover isnt on will be explained next update)
